Healthy eating is a topic that is very important to many people today. Below are some healthier diet tips you might be interested in.

Americans are not eating proper healthy diet food. The average weight in America has gone up tremendously. While our vegetable and fruit consumption has decreased. We need to increase our intake of vegetables and fruit. You can do this by incorporating just a few very simple changes in our lifestyle.

The average American knows vegetables and fruit are very important to us for good nutrition for that reason most of us try to eat right. Studies have shown that if we eat more vegetables and fruit we will decrease our chances of getting heart disease, stroke or cancer.

Do not forget to eat all your colors because that will ensure you receive the proper number of minerals and vitamins. The deeper the color in vegetables and fruit means they have more nutrients in them.

A good thing about vegetables and fruit is that if we eat enough of them it will be good for our weight program. Many fruits and vegetables are full of water and fiber so when we eat them we get the felling of fullness faster. And some vegetables and fruit are low in calories. Making a habit of eating more vegetables and fruit will increase your appetite for them also. So when you increase the number of vegetables and fruit you are eating, you are substituting for the high calorie junk food that you used to eat, so that will decrease your over all calorie intake.

Foods that you already are eating you could add some extra fruits or vegetables to. You could add fruit to your morning cereal for instance. Or if you eat omelets you could add extra vegetables to it. With your rice and pasta dishes you could add vegetables and with soups and stir fried you could add extras vegetables. You could change the high fat snacks with cut vegetables and fruit. If you make fruit and vegetables more available, you would be more likely to eat them for your healthy snacks instead of the high calorie junk food snacks.

When meal time comes, place more vegetables on you plate and always keep fresh fruit available. You could take a bag of cut fruit to work with a little yogurt as a dip or take vegetables with a low calorie dip for that mid day snack. Also you can keep dried fruit in your desk drawer for that emergency snack.

Some restaurants have healthy alternative menus. Change from ordering French fries to an order of sliced apples or you could order a bowl of fruit and order chicken wraps instead of a burger. Order a smoothie in place of ice cream for your healthy treat.

Fruits and vegetables are necessary for a healthy diet. By incorporating more of them into your daily routine at home and at the office, you can do wonders for your general health and you can also shed a few pounds in the process. - 17269
