Tips And Information Of The Disease Known As Diabetes

By Cathy Sheehan

When dealing with any disease it is important to make sure that you understand what the disease actually is and how to treat it. It is also important to point out that you can lessen your chances of even getting diabetes by focusing yourself on things such as proper dieting and exercise. Dieting in reference to eating healthy. Diabetes itself is actually a disease that makes the body not produce the right amounts of insulin in one form or another as there are different types of diabetes. The other situation to consider with diabetes is that it is also a genetic disease. Meaning your chances increase if your family members have also been diagnosed with it.

The various form of diabetes will now be discussed so you can understand the different types. Type 1 diabetes is the less common form of diabetes and is actually the response of the body to not be able to produce insulin at all. Again this is the more rare form of diabetes most Americans have Type 2.

Type 2 diabetes is the result of the body being resistant to insulin altogether, therefore making it impossible for the body to actually properly use insulin. There is also a 3rd type of diabetes which is actually pre-diabetes. Pre-diabetes is when the body's blood glucose levels happen to be higher than normal but not exactly high enough to be diagnosed as actual diabetes.

The important thing to remember when dealing with the knowledge that you or a loved one has diabetes, is to not panic right away and start to be fearful. Those are of course common reactions but after the initial shock is over it is highly recommended to actually look into the disease to really understand what it is about and what you can do to make yourself feel better. There are things that can be done and the disease if maintained properly can refrain from having too much of an impact on your life.

There are many Americans who live with diabetes and deal with it on a day to day basis. You can too just educate yourself about the disease and do what you can to stay healthy. - 17269
