3 Healthier Food Substitutes

By Bill Radford

Our health is everything in this world, and what we eat can play a major role in shaping the overall state of our bodies. Foods that are loaded with fat, sugar, or artificial substances all have negative effects on our health.

I've also started to feel more energy on a regular basis ever since I started eating organic foods. The benefits of this are clear to me, and I'd like to provide a few quick alternatives to the foods or drinks you're currently consuming that may leave you in a better position.

For one, I'd look for organic ketchup if you like to eat a fair amount of ketchup with your food. You might not know this, but most ketchups have high fructose corn syrup in them, as they're artificially sweetened to make them taste more appealing.

There are spreads that don't contain any sweetener whatsoever, though those may be a bit bitter for your tastes. If this is the case, go for something sweetened with natural sugar. You won't notice the difference and you'll be doing right by your body.

It's not only ketchup that has sweeteners you probably never knew about. The same can be said for bread, which contains several grams of sugar per serving. The sweetener used is customarily corn syrup.

Avoid this by choosing organic breads that simply use sugar instead. Once again, a quick look at the ingredients will reveal everything that's inside and it's worth the extra few seconds spent learning about what you'll be eating.

Lastly, I always make sure that when I'm getting juice, it's actually 100% juice and not some kind of processed juice drink. There are so many artificially sweetened drinks that give off the impression they're juice, though they're not.

If the drink is all juice, it'll say this on the label and within the ingredients. Inspect the drink quickly before choosing it, and stick with the ones that are pure juice. - 17269
