How to Lose Your Belly Fat

By Jose Loni

Lose your belly fat the easy way. Losing belly fat has never been easier. By following some simple principles of diet, exercise and stress management, you will achieve the goal of losing your belly fat.

Many of us eat a diet, which are full of sugar, processed foods, fast foods, and high fat food as well as eat in large portions. When the body is faced with all that food and not enough activity to consume that food as fuel, the food turns into fat and is stored in the belly as belly fat.

By increasing the number of meals we eat throughout the day to 5-6 times per day and decreasing the size of the meals, we can help our bodies burn body fat especially when we match our food intake with our physical energy activities.

When we increase our overall physical activity and we decrease our food consumption, we allow our body to better utilize the fat on our body to fuel the activities we do. This results in the belly fat being burned as fuel.

Resistance training exercises increase our overall lean body mass, which increases our metabolism. The increased metabolic activity will use the excess belly fat as fuel.

Decreasing the amount of stress in our lives will help you lose your belly fat. Stress causes the production of a hormone called Cortisol, which has been linked to fat accumulation in the belly area during periods of stress.

Various stress management exercises like meditation, tai chi, deep breathing are just some examples that people can do to decrease their stress levels.

The simple easy method to lose your belly fat is basically watching what you eat, increasing exercise activity and reducing the amount of stress you have in your life. By using this easy method to lose your body fat, you will achieve your goals quicker. - 17269

Can Epoxy Lining Prevent Lead Contamination from Water Pipes

By Dr. Dave Dunn

Lead used to be a primary material for water pipes in major U.S. cities, until the early 1900?s. It was so heavily favored because of its durability and malleability. Galvanized steel and copper eventually replaced lead, and copper pipe became the most popular material used in home water service and distribution in post 1950 construction.

Lead contamination was the top source of lead-related health issues before the hazards of ingesting it were known. The cause was pipe corrosion and erosion, and it raised stillbirth and infant mortality rates. Other plumbing or pipe problems are much easier to spot, but if you?re not testing for lead in your water, you?ll never know it?s there. You can find general information about lead contamination and how to test for it on the EPA?s website.

If your water is lead contaminated, it's most likely because of one or more of the following: lead service line pipe(s) connecting your house to the municipal water main, lead-based solder (used to join copper pipes), and brass or chrome-plated brass faucets. In 1986, Congress banned the use of lead solder containing greater than 0.2% lead, and restricted the lead content of faucets, pipes and other plumbing materials to 8.0%.? This so-called ?lead-free? brass can still legally contain up to 8% lead and plumbing systems installed prior to 1986 can contain high levels of lead from both plumbing components and lead solder.

In older buildings and homes, the service line from the municipal water main to the house may be a lead pipe -- something you should definitely confirm. Unless your piping has been upgraded in the past 40 years, it is probably galvanized pipe (iron with a zinc coating) which does not require lead solder to join the pipe. You may already know if your faucets are brass or chrome-plated, but if not, you might want to consult with a licensed plumber or take them with you to a local hardware store. CuraFlo??s website offers a brief history of lead materials in water pipes.

Once installed, epoxy pipe lining is a barrier to prevent lead leaching from your pipes into your drinking water. The epoxy lining prevents the water going through the pipe from coming into contact with the metal of the pipe, the chemical reaction that creates pipe corrosion is prevented. Epoxy pipe lining will prevent lead and other metals (from your pipes) from getting into your water. The lining also prevents other poor water quality issues, for example: red, brown, blue or yellow water, zinc or iron leeching from galvanized pipes into your water, causing a metallic taste, and bacteria can cause terrible tasting or smelling water.

A relatively unknown technology, epoxy pipe lining is not a new technology, --in fact it?s well proven. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Navy have both ested and approved the use of epoxy pipe lining to prevent contaminants, including lead, from leaching into drinking water. Their reports are published and links to them can be found at http://curaflo.com/CuraFlo/ResourceCenter. The epoxy used by CuraFlo in epoxy pipe lining, CuraPoxy?, is certified to meet the U.S.

There is no need for health concerns when it comes to epoxy lining your pipes, CuraFlo?s epoxy, CuraPoxy?, is certified to meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61 - the U.S. government standard for safe potable (drinking) water. ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification means that something is certified safe to be used in potable water pipes at temperatures up to 180? Fahrenheit or 82.2? Celsius. CuraFlo?s epoxy pipe lining process protects you from lead (and other metals) in your pipes leaching into your water by preventing these metals from leaching into your water. - 17269

How Cardio Exercise Will Help You to Gain Weight Fast Metabolism

By Ricardo d Argence

When you do cardio, you get your heart rate going and increase blood circulation throughout your body. Cardio exercise is basically whole body exercise that, ideally, should make you breathe harder than usual, get your heart rate pumping, and help you work up a good sweat. It is as necessary for overall health and fitness as anaerobic exercise is.

Cardiovascular exercise has the unique benefit of exercising your heart, which is the most critical muscle you have. if you increase your pulse rate and keep it there at a sustained rate for a period of time, you increase your overall fitness level. That's a good thing for your health.

You can lose weight and burn excess calories by doing cardiovascular exercise. It is one of the most commonly noted and popular benefits of this kind of exercise. It'll also give you an overall "toning" for your entire body.

One of the greatest benefits of cardiovascular exercise in regard to weight loss is that your calorie burning benefits don't stop when you stop exercising. In fact, some studies have shown that your metabolism stays at this significantly increased range for up to 18 hours after you finish your workout. And done over a long period of time, because you are toning and making your body more fit overall, it burns calories faster just as a matter of course. That's because as you become more fit, you'll both lose fat and gain muscle, and muscle burns calories even when you are at rest.

There are a lot of benefits of cardiovascular exercises. Another one is that it releases the so-called "feel-good" hormones called endorphins, your body's natural opiates; and they can also help ease depression.

Before you start excersizing, make a visit to your doctor and make sure you're fit for vigorous physical activity. If your doctor gives you a clean bill of health, go ahead; but, don't go full steam ahead. Starting slow with a 10 minute moderately paced walk daily is a way to get going and keep going.

After about two weeks, you're going to notice that you have more energy, that you sleep better, that you have fewer cravings for "bad" foods, and that you just in general feel better. Most of all, perhaps, you are going to notice that your mood is a lot more positive. That's great; keep going.

To ensure that you keep your fitness level up you will need to have to increase the challenges you undertake. If you are going to try a cardio program, there are another things you should have in mind. You will get better results as long as you are capable to change your lifestyle. What I mean is you will have to eat right, get enough sleep, drink enough water, etc. - 17269

Hoodia Patches or Hoodia Diet Pills for Better Results?

By Reagan Miers

As I'm sure you are aware, the companies who market and promote hoodia patches generally make the bold claim that a patch works much better than the usual hoodia diet pills. The theory is that by wearing a patch the hoodia will slowly work it's way through your skin before passing into your bloodstream. Giving you a slow, constant supply of hoodia all day long.

They also state that because the hoodia does not have to travel through your stomach, a hoodia patch will suppress your hunger a lot faster than any other capsule or liquid based supplement.

On the surface, this makes total sense but unfortunately there is no scientific evidence to back this theory. There isn't one scientific or clinical study to date on the effectiveness of hoodia patches. In fact, there are very little studies on the effectiveness of hoodia gordonii itself!

What about the nicotine patch or the birth control patch, you may ask? They work after all, so the hoodia patch must be effective. Sellers of hoodia patches will try to make this comparison but don't fall for it. There is a big difference between these products.

Both nicotine patches and birth control patches required the person to have a prescription. This is still the case for birth control patches, however, nicotine patches have just become available over the counter without a prescription. That being the case, it is important to bear in mind that you have never needed a prescription for a hoodia patch.

Before a product that required a prescription can go on sale to the public it must go through a lot of stringent testing to ensure that it is safe and effective. None of the hoodia patches available on the market today have ever required a prescription and so have never gone through this testing.

If you don't buy the clinical studies argument, what about the commonsense argument? Let me explain. Hoodia gordonii is a cactus-like plant grown in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. It has been used for centuries by the San tribe to stave off hunger during long hunting trips.

The tribe would cut a section of the plant, peel it, and then eat it. This would be enough to stop their appetite for many hours. Now, in your opinion which method most closely matches eating the actual plant? Taking a hoodia capsule which contains the ground up plant, or sticking a patch to your skin? I'm sure you will see that the capsule is the much more effective method of getting hoodia into your body.

It is the case that I believe that all hoodia patches are a useless waste of money, however I'm not trying to say that all of the hoodia diet pills are excellent. Far from it, it's actually the case that the majority of hoodia products on the market today are actually fakes, which contain little to no actual hoodia gordonii at all.

While there are no hoodia patches that work, in my opinion, I would highly recommend that you spend your money on the established and reliable hoodia gordonii diet pills which have been proven to work effectively. - 17269

Can eating acai berries cause side effects?

By Mark Goodman

You may have recently heard about acai berry, the fruit of the South American acai palm. Since it has been so heavily marketed as a diet product, many individuals are wondering if supplementation involves the same risk of a regular diet supplement such as ephedrine or a pharmaceutical. Perhaps this thinking is due to the extract form it often comes in. Some people must assume that eating the extract of a berry somehow makes it more conducive to side effects.

Consumption of acai berry in any form, whether it be the whole berry, an extract or puree has not been proven to cause side effects in any study. Considering an acai berry is not too different from a blueberry, this is not surprising. Have you ever heard of someone having severe side effects from blueberries? If you happen to have a rare allergy to them you may have a reaction, but otherwise you should be just fine.

Many who wonder about the potential for side effects may also be wondering if acai berry supplementation could cause an interaction with a drug they are taking. The answer is most likely no. The only fruit which has frequently been shown to cause interactions with certain drugs, namely statins, is grapefruit. If you're worried about drug interactions, consider that an acai berry is essentially about the same as a blueberry, so consider if you would be similarly worried about blueberries causing an interaction or side effects.

On the other hand, consuming acai berries can potentially be very beneficial. As you may well know, they have been shown to have as much and even greater quantities of antioxidants than similar fruits such as black cherries and cranberries. This depends on the species of acai berry, as the white variety of acai doesn't contain as many antioxidants as the purple kind, but it unlikely that you will come across the white variety.

A very interesting benefit of acai berry supplementation is the potential for reduced inflammation. Inflammation has many negative effects on the body, so this potential is very interesting. A study done by AIMBR Life Sciences has shown that acai berry is a potential COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitor.[1] COX-1 and COX-2 are enzymes which are responsible for inflammation and pain, so anything which can inhibit it's activity is good news for those suffering from pain and inflammation.

There are many other benefits of consuming acai berry, but the objective of this article is to clarify that no study has yet proven any risks of eating acai. With all of the hyper surrounding this supplement, one could easily assume that eating it could cause side effects, but that is not the case. Acai berry truly has no negatives unless you happen to not like the taste which is also unlikely!

Manage Your Kids to Eat Fish Once and For All

By Michael Byrd

Do you think you will never abuse your children? Think again. Depriving them from eating fish by simply not including it in their daily diet would most likely mean abuse as well.

You are not excused just because you don't like fish. You are old enough to know the consequences of your choices. Your child is different. He does not know what he's missing if he does not eat fish. But you do, and it's so inconsiderate on your part to deprive them with this privilege.

Put an end to such drama. Let's just pretend that you want to change everything and that you want to introduce fish to your child's diet. The question is on how you will work on it.

I have four children and with them I have learned that kids live by example. They will eventually follow whatever they see in us. And these actions will have an impact as they grow up, even as teenagers.

Hence, it's best to start weaning them to fish eating at an early age and you can encourage them to do so by eating fish yourself. Okay, granted you don't want its fishy taste, but not because it is a fish but because of the way it was prepared or it is not fresh. But don't worry, here's some nippy fixes on these problems.

Fish is fish and it will never ever taste like pork or chicken. If that is how you want to put it. The way it will taste "fishy" would mean buying fish that are not fresh. Freshness can create a great impact on the fish taste. And so, it is important that you only buy the freshest fish in order for you to enjoy its taste.

Try several recipes in a fish cookbook. Do this until you and your family have found the right fish recipe.

Studies show that it is best to work on mild tasting fishes first. Don't start with the salmon even if it has the highest content of omega 3 fatty acids. It's best you start with sea bass or the grouper first. Eventually, you and your family will get used to the fish taste and will soon appreciate salmon.

Start it early. Start it right. You can start introducing fish to your children as young as 6 months old by giving them fish oil. You will soon be surprised that they are craving for more. And by the time that they get to eat out with you, they will order fish more.

Alright, so your kids are old enough to know that food for them means pizza, pot pies, and TV dinners. But it does not mean that it's the end of the world. Just give them tough love and stick with what you believe in. Be firm with the meals you prepare. Feed them with fish and that's it. They will eat if they are hungry anyway.

So as to lengthen the lives of your children and to make them live a healthy life as well, you have to try out these great ideas. Eating fish does not just provide these benefits but it can also improve your child's behavior and mood. And you know you will benefit more from it. Just think of it this way - sooner or later you will be happy you have taught them to eat fish. And someday, your kids will appreciate it too. - 17269

Fish Oil as Cure for Psychosis

By Michael Byrd

Fish oil for the treatment of psychosis has surely been the subject of so many researches.

A lot of scientists are really impressed by what they are now discovering, and most probably you will be too.

The Medline Plus encyclopaedia gives a definition of psychosis as a "loss of contact with reality. This typically includes delusions (false ideas about what's taking place or who one is) and hallucinations (seeing or hearing things which aren't there)."

Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, dementia, hallucinations, unfounded fears, extreme excitement, abnormal emotions, delusions, confusion and delusions are among the general definitions of psychosis.

If you suspect that you have the above symptoms, do not worry right away and get a diagnosis. Take note that psychosis is a chronic illness and does not occur just immediately.

Some of the causes of psychosis can be the use of illegal or prescription drugs, excessive alcohol intake, or any condition that may bring damage to the brain for it to malfunction, like stroke or Alzheimer's Disease.

Some people do not believe that the food that we eat has anything to do with psychosis. Well, that would just be like saying that junk food can sustain our health and make us live longer. That we know is just not possible.

So, what was found in the research?

The recent and continuing research has discovered that there are major health benefits when fish oil is used as treatment for psychosis, along with bipolar syndrome and depression. A few of the findings are here.

A research report in the Journal of Affective Disorders shows that "Major depressed subjects showed significantly lower total omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids?than minor depressed subjects and healthy controls." (Vol. 26, No. 38, 35-46)

Meaning: a person who eats more fish oil fatty acids is less likely to get depressed.

Based on another research done on patients with depression that was published in the American Journal of Psychiatry "Highly significant benefits of the addition of the omega-3 fatty acid compared with placebo were found by week 3 of treatment." (Vol. 159:477-479)

Meaning: in a matter of 3 weeks, fish oil can give you great health benefits.

The Harvard University conducted a study that was published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, says, "Omega 3 fatty acids were well tolerated and improved the short-term course of illness in this preliminary study of patients with bipolar disorder." (Vol. 56 No. 5)

In other words: Patients with bipolar disorder had their conditions improved after taking fish oil.

Further research reported in the American Journal of Psychiatry, had a conclusion that "The results of this study suggest that EPA may be a safe and effective form of monotherapy for women with moderately severe borderline personality disorder." (Vol. 160:167-169)

In other words: Fish oil can help women with extreme personality disorders.

The researchers in the department of psychiatry at the UK University of Sheffield also reported in the Journal of Affective Disorders that, "The findings [of their study] raise the possibility that depressive symptoms may be alleviated by omega 3 PUFA [polyunsaturated fatty acid] supplementation." (Vol. 48(2-3):149-55)

In other words: A good supplement of high quality fish oil can reduce depression.

That is the summary of the benefits that fish oil can provide as treatment to psychosis and minor depressions.

The health benefits that fish oil can provide speaks for itself ? naturally. - 17269

By Ricardo d Argence

When it comes to work outs and staying in shape that age factor is a definite factor in how you will approach your fitness regimen, but they say that age is just a number. Some use being over the age of 40 as an excuse not regularly workout or live in a healthy style.

Your age should not be used as a carte blanche permission slip not to exercise and stay fit. If you approach weight training, diet and work outs the correct way you can maintain a remarkably healthy and fit body for many years, regardless of your age. Weightlifting and bodybuilding routines can be used to increase bone density, lose weight, become healthier and more fit, and reshape your body.

Starting with the basics, once you reach the age of 40 you have to make some changes to your workout, however it doesn't mean that you have to act the victim of false truths regarding aging. When people get older, we have to stretch and warm up before we exercisng because are muscles and joints become less limber.

A fifteen minute stretching and warm up period will help increase your suppleness, and lower the chance of sports injuries. Your muscles will be more conditioned the more you stretch properly and completely.

Now you should do fifteen minutes worth of cardio exercises on an elliptical training machine, a stair stepper or an exercise bike. You are not attempting to reach your limit with this one; however, you do want your heart rate to increase and to continue to develop your limberness and flexibilty. This exercise will let your body know that you are serious about doing some work.

You will want to follow this warm up by doing reps with the correct weights, you should consider light weights for this workout, if in addition to this you are doing circuit training or a free weight routine you will not have the stress of heavy weights.

The pyramid system is preferred among numerous bodybuilders, this system involves performing more reps with less weight, and then as you increase the amount of weight, you start reducing the number of reps that you do. This method of weightlifting has great success for those who want to add muscle and bulk to their bodies. Focusing on proper form throughout the lift must be uppermost in your mind, even though doing so may require that you reduce the weight or the number of repetitions.
