Lose Weight And Get Healthy With Resveratrol

By Jane Louis

In the media as well as the news, resveratrol has been making a huge splash.

Even television shows are picking up on this great discovery and it has been prominently featured on shows like Oprah because of the great benefits.

Resveratrol was first investigated on television about 17 years ago on the show, 60 Minutes, where it was looked into why the French were able to stay so thin despite a diet high in foods like cheese. Red wine, in particular, was shown to show a very large role. As it has been found today, red wine is a huge source of resveratrol.

Scientific studies also have proved this. For example, in one study, two mice were raised with the same high carb diet except one was given a resveratrol supplement while the other one did not receive such supplement.

After an extended period of time, the body masses of the two mice were measured. The mouse that had been taking the resveratrol supplement was 30% thinner!

Interestingly, our bodies only absorb about 40-50% of the nutrients that are contained inside the foods that we consume. The excess components then remain in the body sometimes in fat tissues or other places for years at a time. These are considered toxic.

Resveratrol is a very strong anti-oxidant and is able to go in and destroy these toxins so that they do not damage our bodies. Even if you only use resveratrol for a little bit, you can receive many benefits.

If you are interested in getting positive effects from resveratrol, you should consider a resveratrol supplement like Resveratrol Ultra. At the time of this writing, Resveratrol Ultra is even being offered as a free trial so you can give it a shot and see the results before having to spend a dime on it! - 17269

Pure ResV And Resveratrol

By Jennifer Bronsan

If you have not heard by now, then you should know that Resveratrol is a very exciting substance recently found in medical research.

It has been covered extensively by the media and has been featured on shows like Oprah and Dr. Oz who frequents her show has even recommended it to users at home to take on a consistent basis.

60 Minutes, the popular television program, first investigated red wine 17 years ago. They were particularly interested in why the French were so thin despite a diet high in such foods like cheese. Red wine, as we know now, is a drink that is full of resveratrol. We now know that resveratrol was very important to staying healthy.

Scientific studies also have proved this. For example, in one study, two mice were raised with the same high carb diet except one was given a resveratrol supplement while the other one did not receive such supplement.

After a while, the weights of the two mice were taken and it was found that the mouse that had gotten the resveratrol supplement was 30% thinner than the other mouse despite having the same lifestyle and diet!

About 40-50% of the nutrients in food is asorbed by our bodies when we eat. The excess is stored in fat cells for example. This often results in toxins being present in our bodies.

Since resveratrol has anti-oxidant properties, resveratrol can work to remove the toxins from our bodies and make sure things are running smoothly for us. These results can even occur just by taking resveratrol for a short period of time. So you can take advantage of the benefits right away.

For this reason, if you want to try out resveratrol for yourself and get these great health benefits, then try a resveratrol supplement like Pure ResV. At the time of this writing, Pure ResV is even being offered for free so you can try it out before spending any money on it. - 17269

Experiencing Headaches?

By Dr. Jason Fowler

If you have a headache, you're not alone. Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches. Most are occasional, some frequent, some are dull and throbbing, and some cause debilitating pain and nausea.

What do you do when you suffer from a pounding headache? Do you grit your teeth and carry on? Lie down? Pop a pill and hope the pain goes away? There is a better alternative.

Research shows that spinal manipulation - the primary form of care provided by doctors of chiropractic - may be an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck.

A report released in 2001 by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center in Durham, NC, found that spinal adjustments resulted in almost immediate improvement for those headaches that originate in the neck, and had significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief of tension-type headache than a commonly prescribed medication.

Also, a 1995 study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that spinal adjustments are a effective treatment for tension headaches and that those who ceased chiropractic treatment after four weeks experienced a sustained therapeutic benefit in contrast with those patients who received a commonly prescribed medication.

Headache Triggers But to get to the bottom of the problem, you first need to find out what is causing your discomfort. Headaches have many causes, or "triggers." These may include foods, environmental stimuli (noises, lights, stress, etc.) and/or behaviors (insomnia, excessive exercise, blood sugar changes, etc.). About 5 percent of all headaches are warning signals caused by physical problems.

Ninety-five percent of headaches are primary headaches, such as tension, migraine, or cluster headaches. These headaches are not caused by disease. The headache itself is the primary concern.

What Can You Do? If you spend a lot of time in one fixed position, such as in front of a computer, on a sewing machine, typing or reading, take a break and stretch every 30 minutes to one hour. The stretches should take your head and neck through a comfortable range of motion. Low-impact exercise may help relieve the pain associated with primary headaches. However, if you are prone to dull, throbbing headaches, avoid heavy exercise. Engage in such activities as walking and low-impact aerobics. Avoid teeth clenching. The upper teeth should never touch the lowers, except when swallowing. This results in stress at the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) - the two joints that connect your jaw to your skull - leading to TMJ irritation and a form of tension headaches. Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day to help avoid dehydration, which can lead to headaches. In addition, the ACA and its Council on Nutrition suggest you avoid the following food "triggers":

Avoid caffeine. Foods such as chocolate, coffee, sodas and cocoa contain high levels of the stimulant. Avoid foods with a high salt or sugar content. These foods may cause migraines, resulting in sensitivity to light, noise, or abrupt movements. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. These drinks can dehydrate you and cause headache pain. Other headache sufferers may want to avoid not only caffeine, but also high-protein foods, dairy products, red meat and salty foods. What Can a Doctor of Chiropractic Do? Chiropractors may do one or more of the following if you suffer from a primary headache:

Perform spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress on your system. Provide nutritional advice, recommending a change in diet and perhaps the addition of B complex vitamins. Offer advice on posture, ergonomics (work postures), exercises and relaxation techniques. This advice should help to relieve the recurring joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back. Doctors of chiropractic go through extensive training to help their patients in many ways - not just back pain.

If your headache is symptomatic of a health issue that needs the care of another discipline, your doctor of chiropractic will refer you to an appropriate specialist. - 17269

Acai Berry Weight Loss

By Amanda Z. Reynolds

The acai berry has enjoyed quite a bit of popularity lately, and there's a lot of hype surrounding it. You may have heard some outlandish claims about the acai berry- "Lose twenty pounds in two weeks!" but it is far from a miracle. To realize its full benefit, you'll need to use acai berry with diet and exercise.

Before you believe any of the claims about acai's effectiveness remember this- the more outlandish the claim, the less likely that the supplement will live up to it. Discuss its use with your physician, and while there aren't any major side effects that we're aware of, it might affect the way that some medicines work.

The acai berry is a safe supplement, but of course its use should be talked over with your doctor. There are no known side effects, but if you take prescription drugs you should be careful.

Acai berries do a great job of speeding the digestive process along. They'll help to reduce bloating and irregularity, and keeping your digestive tract running efficiently goes a long way toward maintaining a healthy weight.

Eating foods that have a high omega-3 content will strengthen your heart and improve your overall health. Acai berries, as well as other foods like flaxseed and olive oil, are excellent sources of omega-3s.

The fiber in acai berries can help your digestive tract to process food faster and more efficiently, which makes sure that your body is always clean. With the cleansing action of the acai berry, you will definitely lose weight and inches.

Acai berries also contain a lot of fiber, which promotes a healthy digestive tract by cleansing your system of fat and undigested matter. Foods high in fiber also help you feel full faster, and stay full longer- and that may just make you snack a little less. There is also a fair amount of protein in the acai berry.

Phytosterols are great at removing cholesterol from the body, and acai berries are rich in them. Some people could see their levels drop by almost 15%.

Phytosterols are plant chemicals that help to keep cholesterol from being absorbed, and the plant sterols found in acai berries can reduce cholesterol by 15%. Diets rich in omega-3 and amino acids, like those found in the acai berry, help the body to burn fat and the muscles to work more smoothly.

While the acai berry isn't a total nutritional solution, it has enough protein, fiber and antioxidant power to make it a vital part of a healthy, balanced diet. Acai berries can be used in recipes and fruit salads, just like any other fruit. They make good smoothies, too!

The acai berry's regenerative and health-enhancing properties are so well known that many athletes (such as Brazilian soccer players) eat a quantity of acai berry pulp right before a game.

The acai berry is an almost ideal source of protein and carbohydrates, and their high antioxidant content will boost energy and endurance. If they can do that much for a professional athlete, imagine what the tiny little acai berry can do for you! - 17269

Practitioners of Holistic Medicine

By Steffanie S Esquire

The concept of holistic medicine is using natural methods, procedures and therapies to help heal the body as one unitary system. Holistic medicine has been practiced in many forms and in virtually all parts of the world. There is the concept of the medicine man, shaman or healer. In the absence of the scientific method, most medical treatments were practiced with a holistic or systems viewpoint.

Each culture throughout the world had different theories of medical healing. Many of these practices have not been validated through studies by scientific medical methods. It is certainly not because they are invalid, but because of economics. Undertaking a large study takes a lot of money and requires a way to recuperate this investment.

The definition of holistic medicine is the foundation for a healing philosophy. This includes many of the traditions associated with the promotion, protection and restoration of health of the body. Many of these practices have developed very sophisticated methods to treat patients. It is quite fascinating to think of how they have accumulated this information through time.

One of the top health problems in the United States is back pain. It is estimated that over $50 billion a year is spent on the treating and diagnosing of back related problems. Chiropractors have grown tremendously in this market for treating the spine. Insurance companies are now beginning to cover many of these chiropractic treatments.

Chiropractic doctors are trained in natural treatments of back related problems. These types of doctors can trace their roots back to the ancient Egyptians. Since those times, many of the techniques have been upgraded and modified to increase their efficiency. Chiropractors all the use natural treatments to restore the health of the spine and do not make prescriptions.

Another popular form of alternative medicine using holistic techniques is massage therapy. Massage therapy uses certain movements and pressures to help soothe and relax the body. It has been found to be effective to relieve discomfort, pain, aches and muscle tension. There are a variety of massage techniques which have different benefits depending on the use.

To important schools of medical practice originate around the use of acupoints. Ancient Chinese medical practitioners used acupoints to help restore health and the body. Acupoints were stimulated either using needles or through the application of pressure and movements. These were found to promote health and restore healing in the body.

Acupressure uses pressure and movement on the acupoints. Acupuncture requires the use of needles to be placed directly into the acupoints. The acupoints do not have any nerve receptacles and are not painful when a needle is inserted. Acupressure uses specific movements to help stimulate the acupoints.

Many of these treatments are now being combined into many chiropractic and medical environments. Just as globalization is making the world smaller, many medical and traditional treatments are being combined in successful ways. This is an important step of validation for many of these holistic methods.

These are some of the more common holistic methods that are becoming more mainstream in our society. Western medical science is beginning to accept many of these traditional concepts. The body is a complex organ and is sometimes tough to study in isolation. This has held by the acceptance of many of these important therapies.

The age of the holistic medicine is just beginning to develop. The merging of both Western medical science and holistic treatments is a positive sign. Both of these branches can provide tremendous benefit to patients. Now, or of these traditional practices RBN offered as routine services and many health environments. - 17269

Create Your Own Jump Higher Workout

By Lynn Lopez

Certain sports such as basketball and volleyball need a huge arsenal of skills, and one of the skills that players of these sports need to learn is how to jump higher. Being able to jump higher gives them a serious edge over other players, especially the ones who can't really do very high jumps. In basketball, you can sink that basket better than anyone. In volleyball, you can toss back the ball way before it is halfway to the ground. If you're a really high jumper, you can combine that skill with a slew of other abilities you've developed for the sport and maybe even become a star player.

If you're serious about improving the height of your jump, you have to develop a workout that will train you to jump higher. This jump higher workout should consist of a series of exercises to improve your muscle strength, particularly that of your legs, which do all the hard work of supporting your weight prior to a jump and launching your body up during the actual jump. Such workouts include lunges, deep squats, and toe stands, which all train you to properly carry your body weight on your legs, thereby ensuring that your legs will be strong enough to support you as you perform jumps.

You can also integrate jumping exercises of different types in your jump higher workout; you can do a set of standing jumps and another set that involves jumping vertically from a crouched starting position. These exercises in particular will help ou measure exactly how the height of your jumps have been improving.

How else can you develop a jump higher workout that will be effective for you? Instead of doing it by yourself, you can always ask your coach or trainer to help you realize your goal of jumping higher. They can create a complete program for you and help supervise you during your training sessions to keep you from injuring yourself.

Keep in mind that when you engage in a jump higher workout, you have to do it regularly to obtain the maximum results. Training hard a few times a week is ideal to help your body become better conditioned, but remember not to do it every day and to always let your body rest and recover. A good, solid workout, when done properly and regularly, will yield better results and keep you in top shape. - 17269

Depression Symptoms Help - Natural Relief

By John Laney

Because there are many kinds of depression symptoms, you may need to see a doctor. Dysfunctional depression, where you don't have the energy to go to work or get out of bed, needs professional help, and you can get quick relief.

But most common forms of depression are not severe. You can function, you just may feel "bad" emotionally and physically at times. Hopeless, tired, unhappy, socially isolated. These types of symptoms are more normal for depression.

There are several things you can do to cure common depression symptoms, sometimes within 24 to 72 hours. Some of the cures are nutritional, and some are emotional, and some are physical.

There are several simple nutritional changes that you can try for some immediate depression relief. The first and most powerful is to cut refined white sugar completely from your diet.

White sugar can cause the blues. Eat a doughnut, your blood sugar levels spike high really fast, so your body releases extra insulin to lower your blood sugar levels. The extra insulin clears too much glucose from the blood stream, so you actually end up with low blood sugar.

Low blood sugar causes depression symptoms like fatigue, irritability, and dark mood swings. That's right, low blood sugar causes most forms of depression. Low blood sugar in the bloodstream causes the brain and body to run poorly.

Refined white sugar actually causes low blood sugar! Our natural bodily response to produce insulin creates low blood sugar. So eating sugar causes our blood sugar levels to spike up and down all day long, which creates mood swings and other symptoms.

So to cure depression symptoms, try cutting out refined white sugar. You can still sweeten your foods with stevia, which doesn't cause blood sugar spikes. Simply try cutting out sugar for a few days and see how you start to feel, you can prove this to yourself. There are other nutritional ways to heal depression, but this do it yourself method is a good beginning. - 17269

Will Eating Lots of Fruits and Vegetables Help Me Prevent Bruising?

By Carolyn Cooper

Wouldn't it be nice if we could prevent bruising and eat healthier at the same time we're doing it? The real facts of the matter are that fruits and vegetables have lots to do with how well our body deals with bruising, and if you are someone who has the tendency to bruise easily, or if you know of someone who does, we may determine that it is time for us to visit the produce aisle. When we've made the decision to start putting more fruits and vegetables on our table, we'll soon see that we can make a major impact on our bodys ability to heal improve the bodys ability to prevent bruises that we might otherwise be getting.

Let's begin our discussion of the foods that are high in vitamin C. Vitamin C can not only provide a boost to our immune system, it can also make our body more resilient and more able to rebound from injuries like bruises. If we eat foods that are rich in vitamin C we can get a quick boost in energy, as well as aiding us to heal more rapidly from any bruises that we may have already gotten. When we are trying to determine which foods have an abundance of vitamin C, we should consider citrus fruits first. If we want to try something a little more off the beaten path, we should think about sweet potatoes.

You should also be certain that you are evaluating foods that are rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A is a primary nutrient that your body uses to fight off cellular damage and to deal with trauma, which causes it to be an ideal addition to your diet when you are interested in helping to reduce bruising. While it is said by some people that vitamin A can be received solely through supplements, be careful of following this course of action because this may lead to vitamin A poisoning; even though this poisoning occurs quite rarely, it has been documented to have happened. The method that is best for you will involve adding vitamin A into your diet, and you are able to do this by eating a variety of foods including carrots, pumpkin, cantaloupe, apricots and turnip greens.

You should also consider the fact that iron is a mineral that you should be getting in your diet. Not only does getting enough iron in our diet prevent us from turning anemic, it can also help in strengthening components of our circulatory system which is an essential step to consider when we are dealing with combating bruises. When you want to eat foods that are rich in iron, take a look at the dark-colored green vegetables. These can include spinach, mustard greens, kale, broccoli and Swiss chard. Your body will absorb the iron, and this can be instrumental in helping to keep you healthy.

You should take some time and really consider what your options are going to be when it comes to attempting to prevent bruising. Take control of your own diet, and take a look at the effect that it can make on helping you to improve your chances at preventing bruising. - 17269

Do you eat your Veggies

By Dr. Jason Fowler

Kids don't have that strong a relationship to vegetables. Kids will go through the motions, pushing broccoli spears and lima beans around a few times, but few veggies actually reach the inside of a kid's mouth.

And yet, we want our kids to eat vegetables on a regular basis. The best way to do this is to serve fresh veggies daily, and make sure WE eat all the vegetables on our plates!

Why bother? It turns out that vegetables - all kinds of vegetables - contain super powerful ingredients that help keep us healthy and help us ward off a wide range of serious illnesses.1,2 These magical substances - phytochemicals - give fruits and vegetables their big nutritional kick!

"Phyto" is Greek for "plant". Brightly colored fruits and vegetables contain more nutrients and more phytochemicals.

Well-known phytochemicals include lycopene, found in tomatoes; isoflavones, found in soy; and flavonoids, found in fruits such as blueberries and cranberries.3 Phytochemicals have wide-ranging effects; some are antioxidants, others stimulate enzyme activity, and others have hormonal action. All phytochemicals act to enhance health and well-being and human performance.

Antioxidants provide significant protection for your body's cells against the destructive oxidation potential of free radicals. Free radicals are produced by normal metabolic activities. They are neutralized by antioxidants which we obtain in a well-balanced diet.

But if we're not consuming our daily requirement of fruits and vegetables, our body's reserves of antioxidants are decreased, and free radicals can destroy cells and create disease. For example, certain types of cancer are linked to free radical damage.

The bottom line - broccoli spears are much more than flowery green things your Mom used to make you eat. Broccoli is a superfood, rich in antioxidants and rich in cancer-fighting ability.

Carrots, another superfood, are rich in beta-carotene, an important antioxidant. Your body converts a portion of beta-carotene into Vitamin A, which helps strengthen the immune system and protects the digestive tract.

Tomatoes round out the list of the top three super-veggies. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a potent antioxidant. Lycopenes give tomatoes their rich, red color. These phytochemicals have proven health benefits in the areas of cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis.

Eating vegetables every day provides so much benefit for people of all ages. Five to nine portions of fruits and vegetables are recommended in a balanced nutritional program.

Your chiropractor is an expert on nutrition and will be glad to help you construct food plans that work not only for you but your family as well.

Some Questions to Answer Before Buying a Massage Chair

By James M Knowlon

If you are interested in a massage chair, we offer some practical questions you should answer before you start your research. Massage chairs are big ticket items, so you want to take your time and find the right massage chair for you. To help you before you even start looking, we have posed some important questions for your consideration to help guide your massage chair research.

Who will be utilizing the Massage Chair? Make a list of the potential users of the massage recliner. What are their needs? Are there certain areas of the body that they would like treatment? You should also jot down their height and weight. Massage chairs have certain ranges of body types that they can accommodate. You want to make sure that the chair will fit those that will use it. You also want to make sure that it has the features that can accommodate those most likely to use it as well. This will help you better meet your needs.

Where would you put the Massage Chair? This can sometimes be a major bone of contention. Especially, if the massage chair is perceived to detract from certain rooms in the house. Make sure that the style of the massage chair will go with the dcor. Also, you need to be aware of the physical dimensions required for these chairs. Massage chairs can recline back to a horizontal position and need space behind for this. Make sure that the massage recliner will fit in the room you envision.

What functions are important in a Massage Chair? Obviously, you want to get solid massage therapy from your massage chair. Think about the types of massage techniques that might benefit you. What types of relief do they provide? Maybe you need to think about the types of lifestyle you lead and what potential relief you may need in the future. The more you think about these things, the easier your decision will be because the massage chair fits your basic needs.

What should be my budget for a Massage Chair? Massage chairs range in price. There are good ones that can be had for $2,000 or excellent ones for $4,000. Some entry level massage chairs can provide solid massage therapy, but their life span will be a lot less. In massage chairs, you get what you pay for. The key is to figure out what you would be comfortable spending on a massage chair and then compare that to the features and functions that you want in your massage chair. Does your budget match your needs? There is not an easy answer because "it depends".

What warranty information do I need to know? You want to make sure you get adequate protection for your money. Warranty is your insurance policy against future problems. But do not just judge the warranty by its coverage. You also need to make sure the company you buy from will be around to honor the warranty. Just like an insurance company, you want to go with a known manufacturer. This is extremely important.

We truly hope that these questions will help guide you to finding the perfect massage chair for your needs. You are making an investment in your health and well being, so take your time. Do the research and learn what you can. A little knowledge goes a long way in cutting through the maze of massage chairs and navigating to an excellent choice. If you do it right, you will have years of relaxation and harmony with your new massage chair. - 17269

Acai Berry Diet Tablets - What You Should Know About Acai Berries Before Purchasing

By Xylene Belita

Acai Berry are small berries that seem resembling violet grapes. And like grapes they have specific nutritional qualities and health benefits, but at remarkably higher levels that has gotten it hailed as the perfect fruit for mankind.

Acai Berries are actually from Acai Berry Palms (Euterpe oleracea) which are endemic to the Amazon Rainforests of Brazil. They have long been staple to the inhabitants of the region. The Acai Berry itself is what is called among botanists as a drupe. The seed makes up 80-90% of the fruit. The juice and pulp of the Acai Berry resulting from separating the pulp from the seed is popular in Brazil for use in juice blends, smoothies, and even ice cream and liqueur.

Lately, Acai Berries are quickly becoming popular internationally. With good reason. Acai Berries are filled with an astounding amount of antioxidants - ten times that of grapes and about two to four times that of blueberries. In addition, they are considered to have the finest overall nutritional value of any fruit on Earth.

Acai Berries are found to be very rich in vegetable protein, which unlike animal protein, do not result in cholesterol and are easier to absorb by the body. They are also full in carbohydrates which feed your body during actions like working out. They also contain very high amounts of essential fatty acids and omegas that lower harmful cholesterol levels. The lavender color is from anthocyanins, a kind of antioxidant that lends it its purple hue. Acai Berries in fact have 10 to 30 times more anthocyanins than Red Wine in terms of volume! The astonishingly high levels of antioxidants help combat free radicals and prevent premature aging.

To summarize its healthy benefits, Acai Berries can help improve digestion; lose weight; promote better sleep; reduce muscle fatigue and pain, increase energy and libido, fight cancer and illnesses, lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune and cardiovascular system, and fight aging and inflammation.

Through all those benefits, you might expect Acai Berries to taste like drug, huh? Actually no. Acai Berries have a noticeably tropical taste that has been described as something between a balance of berries and chocolate. It truly is the number one super food of the planet. - 17269
